HUMANE SOCIETY FOR HAMILTON COUNTY

As a board member of the Humane Society for Hamilton County, I work to heighten awareness of the animals in need in our community and advocate for the shelter's outstanding programs like Pets Healing Vets.

At each Council meeting I feature a Pet of the Week and tell their story to help find them a forever home.  I also work with our police and the County Sheriff’s office to coordinate animal care laws. I am now working with the Chief of Police, Tim Green, to update our ordinance dealing with feral cats to insure that it meshes with the County ordinance and that the cats are humanly treated.

I am currently focused in my role as a board member in helping the shelter build a new facility to accommodate the exponential growth of our county and the equally growing needs of the abandoned, abused and neglected animals that are depending on us.  Our Humane Society for Hamilton County is one of the only open-admission, truly No Kill facilities in the United States.  As a member of their board, I am committed to helping them build a world-class facility that the residents of Hamilton County, and its animals, deserve.
